How ScreenApp AI Answer Picture Works
Manually reviewing lengthy slideshows or presentations to find specific information can be tedious. ScreenApp’s AI Answer Picture feature transforms how you extract information from visual content. It allows you to have a direct conversation with your presentations, charts, and diagrams. Ask a question about what’s on a slide, and get an instant, accurate answer.
This guide will show you how to use the Ask AI chat to analyze your visual slideshows, whether you’re recording a presentation, uploading a file, or importing from a URL.
Pro Tip for Best Visual Quality
For the best analysis accuracy, ensure your presentation video is clear and the text is legible. High-resolution slides will significantly improve the AI's ability to understand the visual content and answer your questions accurately.
Why Use AI Answer Picture?
Using the Ask AI feature on your slideshows offers several key advantages:
- Get Instant Answers: Stop manually scrubbing through slides. Ask a direct question about a chart, graph, or piece of text and get the answer immediately.
- Save Hours of Review: Quickly find key data points, definitions, or specific diagrams without re-watching an entire presentation.
- Deepen Your Understanding: Clarify complex topics shown on slides by asking the AI to explain diagrams or summarize bullet points.
- Boost Research Efficiency: Analyze presentations and lectures by instantly pulling relevant text, data, and visual summaries.
How to Use AI Answer Picture: A Step-by-Step Guide
There are three primary methods for using this feature with ScreenApp.
Method 1: Record a New Presentation
This is a simple workaround to capture a slideshow (like a PowerPoint or Google Slides) as it plays on your screen.
- Grant Camera & Microphone Access
When using the recording feature for the first time, your browser will ask for permission. Click "Allow" to enable recording. This is a one-time step.
- Start Recording
- Log in to your ScreenApp dashboard and click the “New Recording” button.
- Set Your Recording Preferences
- First, choose what part of your screen to record by selecting Browser tab, Window, or Entire Screen.
- Next, select your audio input from the microphone dropdown menu. If using an external microphone, select the connected one from the list. Otherwise, select Default when using your computer’s built-in mic.
- Showing your camera is optional but is often used when recording a lecture or presentation. You can enable it by selecting your camera from the Camera Off dropdown.
- Click the red Start Recording button to begin.
- Stop and Process
- When you are finished, click the stop button. ScreenApp will immediately begin processing the file.
- Enable Video Analysis and Ask Questions
- Once processed, navigate to the recording from your dashboard. You will see the Summary, Transcript, and the Ask AI chat box.
- Click the mini video icon beside the Ask AI chat box to activate the analysis feature.
- Simply type your question into the chat box and press enter to get an instant answer from your presentation.
Method 2: Upload a Pre-existing Presentation File
Use this method if you have already saved your slideshow as a video file.
- Upload Your Slideshow File
- From your ScreenApp dashboard, click “Upload File.”
- Drag and drop your slideshow presentation file (e.g., MP4, MOV) into the upload area.
- AI Analysis
- ScreenApp will upload and process the file, performing a full visual analysis of the slides.
- Enable Video Analysis and Ask Questions
- Open the processed file from your dashboard.
- Click the mini video icon beside the Ask AI chat box to activate the analysis feature.
- Use the chat box on the right-hand side to start asking questions about the content of your slides.
Method 3: Import from a URL
This method is ideal for presentations hosted on platforms like YouTube or Vimeo.
Note: For the URL import to work correctly, please ensure the link is public and does not require a login or any other form of access restriction.
- Import the URL
- On your ScreenApp dashboard, click the option to “Import URL.”
- Paste the direct link to the slideshow and begin the import.
- AI Analysis
- ScreenApp will import and process the slideshow, analyzing the visual content on each slide.
- Enable Video Analysis and Ask Questions
- Open the imported file from your dashboard.
- Click the mini video icon beside the Ask AI chat box to activate the analysis feature.
- Find the chat box and type in any question you have about the presentation’s content to get an immediate response.
How to Interact with the AI
The Ask AI chat is a powerful tool. Here are some tips for using it effectively with slideshows:
- Be Specific: Instead of “What was this about?”, ask “What were the key takeaways from the Q3 financial results slide?”
- Ask About Visuals: Ask questions like, “Explain the process shown in the diagram on slide 12,” or “What data is presented in the bar chart?”
- Extract Text: Ask the AI to “List all the bullet points from the summary slide” to quickly get text.
- Have a Conversation: Ask follow-up questions to dig deeper into a topic and explore the content interactively.
Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Answers: The quality of the AI’s answers depends on the video quality. For best results, use recordings with clear, high-resolution slides and legible text.
- Processing is Taking a While: Longer files (over an hour) can take several minutes to process. You will be notified when your file is ready to be queried.
